Three New apprentices join Coachman Caravans

15/10/2016

Coachman Caravans, has just appointed three new apprentices. They will be joining an existing apprentice team of four and are the largest number of apprentices ever to be recruited at once by Coachman. The Coachman apprenticeship scheme lasts for three years and has been running since 2008. It sees young trainees start in various departments of the factory and then move around on a three-monthly basis to gain an understanding of every aspect of caravan manufacturing. The three new apprentices, Tom Barwick, Jordan Roberts and Michael Parks, have been assigned to the Cabinet Shop and the Gas and Electrics Gang on the Production Line.

As part of the scheme the apprentices spend one day a week attending lectures at Hull College and, if they successfully complete their apprenticeship, they will gain a full-time position at Coachman.

Alan Roberts, Production Director for Coachman, said:

“Since our apprenticeship scheme started eight years ago we have regularly hired new apprentices to the Coachman workforce. We firmly believe that our trainees are the future of Coachman. We do everything we can to give our apprentices practical skills while allowing them to gain formal qualifications through a range of in-house training and college courses.”

This announcement follows the launch of Coachman’s best ever year at The Lawns Caravan Extravaganza, with retail sales up by 44% on the same period last year. New models on display included the new Vision 630, a five-berth caravan ideal for the entire family.
