The Scots triumph once again!

June 03, 2009

Teams from Coachman and its leading Scottish dealer, Crossburn Caravans, have once again competed to win the coveted ‘Kelso Cup’ – a fun horse racing competition started by the two companies back in 2007.

On the 16th May, the teams met at Thirsk racecourse in Yorkshire to settle the score, after meeting last November at kelso racecourse in Scotland. With the tally set at two wins to each team, the Yorkshire side was confident they would be the overall winners – especially with the competition taking place on their home turf. However, it was the Scottish side that triumphed and took the cup home – for the second time in a row!

The winner of the cup is based on a points system and is decided by the team who picks the most first, second and third placed horses in each race. The Coachman team (representing Yorkshire) is made up of Marketing Manager Verle Hibbs, Sales Executive martin Winfield and his wife Gwen Winfield. Crossburn’s team is made up of owners Colin and Loraine Chisholm and honorary member Jim Hibbs, Coachman’s Managing Director (who isn’t allowed to be in the Yorkshire team because of his West Bromwich roots!)

Needless to say, the Yorkshire team was disappointed with the result however intend to raise their game for the next competition – which will most likely be at Beverley races on the 4th July.

“Well, as an honorary member of the Scottish team I’m delighted with the result!” said Jim. “Our race days are always great fun and we really enjoy meeting up with the team from Crossburn. The score is now 3-2 to the Scots and we don’t intend to let the Yorkshire team equalize any time soon!”
