Coachman awarded Local Employment Charter.

April 21, 2010

Coachman Caravans has been presented with an award recognising its commitment to the city of Hull and its people through the City Works scheme.

The Local Employment Charter certificate was presented by the Rt Hon Alan Johnson Home Secretary and MP for Hull West & Hessle at a special event at the Guildhall. The Charter is awarded to companies in recognition of their commitment to use local people to fill vacancies.

City Works helps match out-of-work local people with vacancies at businesses in the Hull and East Yorkshire area. Since September, Coachman has taken on three factory operatives through the scheme, all of whom have successfully completed probationary periods and are working as part of the Coachman team.

Receiving the award on behalf of Coachman was Human Resources Manager, Diane McDermid. She said:

“The City Works scheme has proved beneficial for Coachman. The Hull area has a fantastic pool of skilled workers, especially in the caravan trade, and City Works helps us get our vacancies out to exactly the right people we need at the business.”

Phil Dayes of City Works said:

“It is vitally important that businesses recognise the importance of working together to help people find work and where possible utilise the local skills available. We are pleased to have played our part in helping Coachman with finding the right people.”
